Using Mood Boards to Select Colors
Do you have a mood board? Mood boards have become a very popular way for individuals to plan their weddings, birthday parties, baby showers and other fun and exciting events. But did you know you can also use a mood board for your interior and even exterior design and painting needs?
Putting together a mood board can be a really fun project, as families can work on this project together when planning out colors for bedrooms, common areas and even the “man cave.” Some items to add to your mood board might include paint color chips from your local paint store, fabrics from couches, pillows or bedspreads or even photographs from a magazine or a photo you might have taken of a building or while on vacation in an exotic location. Below is a great example of a room that Spectrum Painting recently worked in that was based off fabrics from the customer’s daughter’s comforter in her room.
Some other ideas in terms of an exterior painting mood board might include paint swatches and stain chips for a fence or deck, pieces of fabric from your outdoor patio set, or even a piece of a towel or umbrella out by your pool or in your pool house or cabana. In the example below, even rocks and shells from the beach were used to inspire color choices.
